Antibiotics Awareness Activities

World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW)

📅18–24 November every year

World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global campaign organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness of the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). When bacteria, viruses, and other microbes become resistant to treatments, infections become harder to treat, putting lives at risk.

Since 2015, the WHO’s Global Action Plan has focused on educating and raising awareness about AMR. Together, we all play a crucial role in preventing the spread of resistance!

Theme for year 2024: “Educate. Advocate. Act Now” This year’s theme highlights the urgent need for public engagement and responsible practices among healthcare workers and policymakers.
